This session is about robots that serve doctors and their patients told by inventors, producers and users of robots. The past (that is, about the troubles and joys of creating), the present (barriers and successes) and the future (challenges, that is about robots which are missing on the market) – in discussions with the important players on the stage.

EU Topic Group: Future roadmap for healthcare robotics

Healthcare Robotics is an advancing field with many opportunities in diagnostics, intervention, rehabilitation and supportive applications. Main challenges include understanding of the healthcare processes in great detail, identifying the real needs of the healthcare professionals and systems, at deploying robotics in healthcare environments, and in the robotic technologies and their limitations in interaction, perception, safety, and security. This workshop gives an interesting insight in the EU Topic Group activities to bundle forces across Europe, focusing on the roadmap process to embed innovations into clinical practice during the upcoming 5-10 years.
